Cosmeceutical Alphabet - DMAE

D is for Dimethylaminoethanol (di-meth-ul-uh-me-no-eth-uh-nol)

Now say that 5 times fast!

If potency is measured by the difficulty of a pronunciation, then DMAE better be pretty amazing ... and it is, yay! To be clear, we are talking about DMAE as an ingredient in skincare formulations.

DMAE is a potent, site-specific free radical scavenger that can help improve the appearance of aging skin. At 3% in facial creams, DMAE, has been shown to improve the appearance of coarse wrinkles, under-eye dark circles, nasolabial folds, sagging neck skin, and neck firmness. Topically-used DMAE is not strongly correlated to any irritations or allergies; it is generally tolerated well in human trials.

DMAE is found in sardines and anchovies, and small amounts of it are also produced naturally in the human brain. There is current research looking at DMAE and Choline metabolism effects in the brain, via consumption. DMAE is structurally similar to Choline and, therefore, takes its spot in the brain during metabolism. This results in extra Choline being available. Choline is linked to increased memory function and its effects are being studied as treatment for Alzheimer's Disease and dementia.

DMAE is an easy-to-incorporate ingredient for skincare products because it is a white powder that is soluble in water. Our DMAE is vegan, too! DMAE stars in many of our products because it supports so many functions necessary for skin to look more healthy and youthful.

There is a DMAE solution for every skin type.
