Ceramide Complex - are essential for the normal organization of our tissues into structures that are responsible for keeping the barrier function of the skin functioning well, like preventing transepidermal water loss and keeping other things out. They are found in our skin at about 50% by mass. A decrease in ceramides - through aging, exposure to high or low temperatures - can lead to dry skin and itchiness due to a decrease in the efficacy of the stratum corneum's ability to keep water in and other things out.
CoQ10 - is a fat-soluble vitamin-like substance present in every cell of the human body. A coenzyme is a substance that enhances or is necessary for the action of enzymes. They are generally much smaller than enzymes themselves. Coenzyme Q10 is a coenzyme vital to production of energy within cells. It is also a very powerful antioxidant or free radical scavenger. Synthesized by the human body, it starts out at low levels when we are very young, reaches its peak in our young adulthood and shows a gradual decline after the age of 20, even as the body's demand for it grows. Topically applied, CoQ10 can penetrate the cell layers of the skin and may attenuate the depth of wrinkles due to photo aging, as well as epithelial cell turnover. Kerotinocyte cells make up the majority of human skin cells and CoQ10 has been shown to protect these skin cells from oxidative DNA damage induced by ultraviolet light. CoQ10 supports the body's natural defense mechanism against the damaging effects of free radicals, particularly the lipid per oxidation in skin. It is a useful cosmetic ingredient for skin care and sun protection products.
DMAE - is a synethetic analogue of choline (a B vitamin). It might stimulate the synthesis of phosphatidyl choline, which is an important component of cell membranes, or it might stimulate epidermal keratinocytes to contract, which will result in visual tightening or nirming of the skin. Right now the mechanisms of how DMAE works isn't really known, but the results are incredibly promising based on this study and other smaller studies that show this tightening effect.
Fision Instant Lift - contains non-GMO, natural and sustainable Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Acacia Senegal Gum and Xanthan Gum polysaccharides in an optimized solution that provides film-forming, tightening benefits when used in cosmetic formulations.
The protein and polysaccharides in Fision® Instant Lift work together to form a substantive and cohesive film which instantly tightens while smoothing wrinkles as the water in a formulation evaporates. It tightens as it dries, resulting in the firming, tightening effects. Soy is high in tryptophan, which has a stacked chemical structure to create a compact, cohesive and resistant film as the hydrophobic interactions between the branched chain amino acids in the soy entangle with each other. Cationic amino acid groups from the soy are attracted to the anionic surface of skin for enhanced substantivity, while the polysaccharides enhance the skin tightening effect.
